I’ve never heard Michael Kiwanuka until about 10 minutes ago, and I’m totally digging this album. Its chill vibe matches the season, and his voice is like butter.
The stand out track for me is Stars. It starts with a guitar intro that sounds like it could be from Maggot Brain [These Guitars Sing!], and then it switches into a sweet ballad that references so many songs I’ve heard but can’t name. They’re right there on the tip of my tongue, but I can’t find them. So, I keep listening. And listening.
