Ginny and I went to see Mumford & Sons this week with Emma and her boyfriend Doug, and I have to admit that as excited as I was to see them, I was kinda expecting the concert to suck — not because of Mumford & Sons, but because of Madison Square Garden. I feel like the sound in that venue is often just mud. The concerts are fun, but you really don’t get to HEAR the music.
Wow. I was wrong. We were seated way up in the 200’s, somewhere near the ceiling, so maybe the sound was awesome because there was a lot of absorption up there? Maybe Mumford & Sons are touring with a genius sound engineer? Maybe they simply got the levels right? Maybe all of those things?
I don’t know. Fantastic show. Fantastic sound. Good times!
A singer/songwriter who calls himself Medium Build opened up for them, and he sounded great, too. He’s totally worth listening to, especially live.
