Jimmy Somerville – Smalltown Boy

Today was Pride Parade in Princeton, and my family, my homies, and my friends at Stark & Stark got to walk in the parade, which has been spearheaded by the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice for years now. There are pictures below. What a great day!

And could there be a better way to celebrate the day than to put together a playlist of some of the best pride-filled tunes ever? I think not.

There are so many to choose from, I know, but, objectively, Jimmy Somerville’s Smalltown Boy is the one song. The one. And he’s in great company: RuPaul, Ricky Martin, Erasure, Harry Styles, Tracy Chapman, Queen, Culture Club, and, of course, Lady Gaga.

Love, Cheer, Happiness, Togetherness, Community, Acceptance, Pride. It’s great to take even one day to wave a flag that truly means love — for everyone. Today’s walk warmed my heart, and so do these tunes. I hope the tunes warm yours, too!
