Two Songs of the Week. Falling and The Ceiling Underground. Up yours buddy. My rules. My jams.

The Twilight makes some seriously sad music:
Why does it feel like this?
Why does it feel like nothing is real?
Sealed with a goodbye kiss
My head is filled with more things to miss
Why does it feel like this?
Why does it feel like nothing is real?
Why does it feel like this?
When you hear music like this, I don’t know? I go straight to The Cure and Joy Division and Trent Reznor singing Joy Division and Trent Reznor singing, well, Nine Inch Nails, and, of course, Nirvana. There are a few other artists who can punch you in the face with their self hatred, but these guys deliver a punch in the face every time. Unfortunately for Kurt Cobain and Ian Curtis, they couldn’t see a path forward. I was too young to have any memory of Ian Curtis’s passing, but I was in college when Cobain died, and the news was crushing. His music lives on, though, and it is no less powerful today.
Whew. I need to go listen to some Duran Duran now.
Or…. some 80s and 90s electronic jams.
I hadn’t heard of Scorn until a few weeks ago when I got my hands on Apparat’s DJ-Kicks compilation from 2010.
And who would name their band Skinny Puppy nowadays? Well, I would.
